Over the past several years, The Springfield Republican/Union News has presented a bleak picture of the current problems and future status of the Springfield Public School System. The 2003 State of the People report by the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission reports that, “Springfield and Holyoke, with annual drop out rates of 8.0 percent and 8.6 percent, respectively, have the highest rates in the region, more than double the regional and state averages (3.5 percent)”. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. works through its educational foundation to identify challenges within the Western Massachusetts community and address the needs of youth in the Greater Springfield area.

Over the last 7 years, and prior to the creation of our foundation, we have provided more than $25,000 in scholarship funding to Greater Springfield college-bound youth through our annual 3 in 1 Scholarship Dance. The 3 in 1 Scholarship Dance was created to raise and distribute funds in celebration of academic achievement by young men of color in the Greater Springfield area. Scholarship candidates complete applications and are judged based on academic excellence leadership ability, and community service work and financial need.

As a friend, we are asking you to support our our foundation so that we can continue to attack the problems that plague our communities.

By aligning yourself with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, you are cementing your dedication and contribution to community enrichment and will share in the recognition and reward in knowing that you contribute to the advancement of Springfield area youth both socially and academically. We want to create a partnership with you to provide valuable services and support to young men throughout Western Massachusetts. Be on our team!
Please donate what you can to this worthwhile foundation.
